What is the game about?

The game is set in the near future where cybernetics has pushed humanity to a new frontier. Humans are modified, merging man and machine as one. However, war still ravages around the world despite this breakthrough. Unwittingly, a bio-weapon code named "Icarus" has been released. The virus infects humans and in turn machines. It corrupts them and creates a hive mind.

On the verge of extinction, surviving humans have discovered that there is a source which controls the hive mind in different continents across the globe. The remaining humans now live in space where they conduct their operations sending out their secret weapon in the hopes of reclaiming Earth once more.

How is the game designed?

The game will be level based. Within each level, there are rooms to be explored. Most of these rooms are interconnected. There will be one room which will contain the epic boss fight.

The controls are pretty simple and straightforward for anyone who is familiar with this type of game. However, it would be better for you to teach the player what the controls are in the game such as having a tutorial level. When the player is in the spaceship, you could make the E key appear when the player near an interactable object such as the weapon beach or the door.

I am not too sure how does the shield works in the game. Is it suppose to be a power up that you can collect to build up for the ultimate move?

The game could use more visual feedback. It is very hard to tell if the player is being attacked by the enemy other than losing health on the UI. The reload icon seems to be a placeholder sprite as I could not tell how long it takes to reload the shotgun. You could make the player flash after taking a hit so that they will know that they are getting attacked by an enemy. As for reloading, you could use the slider object in the canvas to show the time taken to reload the gun. I could not comment much about the audio in the game right now since it has not been implemented yet. The enemies need some feedback when they are being hit by the player's bullet such as having a health bar appear in the canvas when it is taking damage.

The enemies in the game are pretty interesting but the one stood out the most is the big guy with the shield as it required some strategy to defeat rather than just keep shooting it until it dies. However, the level design is very inconsistent right now because there are some sections of the game that are very easy and there are other sections where the player will experience a huge difficulty spike. In those rooms, players are overwhelmed with enemies and have very little space to move around. There is also an issue where there are multiple enemy types in one room and the player does not know how to deal with them yet. You could introduce each enemy type in a new room rather than throw them all at the player at once.

For testing purposes, you could also include a god mode button where the player is invincible, have unlimited ammo and lives so that the tester can test out the rest of the level without having to restart after dying for so many times. I feel that the use of the map as a level selector is pretty interesting but you might need some form of transition from the level and the spaceship because right now it is kind of jarring to reload the level back on the spaceship after the player loses all their lives. You could add a lose screen that appears after the player has lost all their lives with button to quit the game, restart the level or return to the spaceship.

Hello, Wolzardred

Thanks for your feedback its much appreciated a lot of the bugs you have come across and performance increasing aspects you have talked about are being fixed before the next prototype somethings like the reload bar are great ideas and i will implement them as soon as i can, we are going to add in a screen shake when the player gets hit as for the shield when you do damage to enemies you gain one after a sustain amount they act as bonus life because the player will have a hard time getting back lives they are also the fuel for your ultimate ability which cost four shields and is an AOE blast of bullets, i like the idea of introducing enemies and will use that in the future for the first rooms.

Thanks for playing the game,

Austin and Andrew.

Really missing the sound- would probably be worth it to add some placeholders for your next prototype it really transforms a game.

Lighting and vibe is on point, love how you introduce new rooms by suddenly turning the lights on.  makes hallways kinda scary :D

Really hard to know where I'm shooting, Idk if it's the turn speed or the small cursor  or what but it's really annoying to try to aim right now.  I like the pistol because you can aim by shooting, but with the shotgun you don't shoot often enough to aim this way.  giving the character a laser pointer could be really helpful.

Bug where you get stuck when you touch a wall is pretty annoying to work with but I'm sure it'll be gone in the final.

love the look of the wall arm guy, but I'm confused if I'm doing less damage by attacking him in the front, I'd think so, but the turn speed on the aim makes it so annoying to try to turn around fast that I just attack him from the front anyway

Great prototype fellas looking forward to see where it goes

Thanks for you comment it really means a lot to me and Andrew when people give us great comments like this. ill fix all the bugs you have listed by next prototype, The enemy with wall arms blocks attacks with his walls if you dash through him he will try to attack you leaving him open to attacks, we haven't got a lot of experience with sound design so it would mean alot to us if you could list some good sound sites and Thanks for your Comment.
